Competition for Eisteddfod Architecture Pavilion

the 1977 Eistedfodd crown

The National Eisteddfod, Design Circle and the RSAW are pleased to announce the design competition, in which the winning entry will be built at the 2012 National Eisteddfod in the Vale of Glamorgan.

For the first time in its history, the 2012 National Eisteddfod of Wales Architecture Pavilion will be created by a Welsh Designer.

The winning pavilion will house a programme of events during the August festival including the presentation of the Gold Medal for Architecture (Alwyn Lloyd Memorial Medal), supported by the Design Commission for Wales; the presentation of the Plaque of Merit and the Architecture Scholarship.

The competition jury are keen that the winning design should speak about the future, a dialogue of what is to come, whilst also being a celebration of the moment within the National Eisteddfod 2012.

The winning pavilion will have a life beyond the National Eisteddfod, as it the brief specified the structure to be demountable in panel form for future use by the RSAW and Design Circle.

To receive a copy of the brief, please contact the RSAW, 029 2022 8987, rsaw@riba.org
