NHBC figures show drop in housing applications year on year
Applications for affordable housing fell 41% in the last quarter compared to the same time last year, according to the National House Building Council (NHBC).
Only 7,090 applications were submitted between March and May this year, compared to 12,003 during the same period in 2011.
Private sector applications also feel three percent over the same period, from 20,559 in 2011 to 20,035 this year.
The combined figures show a 17% fall in overall housing applications in the last three months compared to last year.
Richard Tamayo, NHBC commercial director, said: “Our registration statistics continue to show a divide between private and public sector registrations in the UK.”
