Developer wants tenant in place first
The developer behind Allies & Morrison’s 100 Bishopsgate tower in the City of London has put building work on hold while it searches for an anchor tenant.
The practice has teamed up with Woods Bagot for work on the 37 storey tower which is being developed by a joint venture of Great Portland Estates and Canadian developer and contractor Brookfield.
In a statement accompanying its annual results today (Wednesday), the developer said enabling works will be completed in July but added: “Construction of the building will only be commenced once a suitable pre-let has been entered into and discussions with a number of potential occupiers are on-going.”
The designs for the tower were unveiled by the pair, collaborating as AMWB, after Woods Bagot was brought in to work on the original Allies & Morrison scheme, at the Mipim property show in France earlier this year.

This is not news they have always said this when they began demolition.
With so much of the designed knowledge embedded in the BIM process, it will be interesting to see what advantages a BIM managed project demonstrates when it comes to remobilisation – not least as 'on-hold' often doesn't mean 'down-tools' and could be an ideal time for a contractor to use all the BIM tools at their disposal for a rapid launch. Roll-on the pre-let.
Had a problem remobilizing my BIM, but I mamnged to turn the computer off and on again and now it seems to be working.
Nice to see a revival of 1970s/80s shiny American office blocks. Just think, now with BIM you can knock up half a dozen similar schemes in an afternoon.
Wow! What a fantastically underwhelming building.
