Cabe praises design of temporary structure for BP

And Architects and KBW have designed BP’s sponsorship pavilion for the 2012 Olympic park.

The temporary structure will showcase how the petroleum giant is finding and recovering energy “from some of the most hostile environments on earth”.

A mirrored facade is held up by at an angle to reflect the surrounding park and sky to visitors.

A statement from BP said: “As each individual makes their way towards the structure, they feel connected as they become aware, not only of themselves reflected in the facade, but of lots of other people also approaching the showcase.”

Design Council Cabe said it welcomed the “design detailing of the pavilion, which is of the quality you would expect for a permanent structure”. It added that entertainment should be provided for people while they queue.
