Cake in the Clouds set for Battersea Park to mark celebrations
Architects are invited to take part in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations by designing a tall cake.
Cake in the Clouds will form part of the entertainment taking place in Battersea Park on June 3, curated by Hemingway Design and artist Clare Patey.
Sheila Hayman, producer of Cake in the Clouds, said: “The idea is that baking is a form of design, with elements of architecture and engineering, and it would be a lot of fun to apply those architectural and engineering principles to cake, to build something both tall and strong (and with luck beautiful as well).
“We are inviting teams to put themselves forward for this competition.”
The components of the cake can be prepared before the event, and must be built on the day. The whole thing must be edible and be able to be cut with a kitchen knife.
