Work on PFI hospital set to start in 2013
BDP, Anshen & Allen and Swanke Hayden Connell are the final three teams chasing an £81 million hospital scheme in north London.
The trio are bidding for the £81 million first phase of work at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. In all, eight teams submitted bids.
The work is being carried out under the Private Finance Initiative after the then Labour health secretary Andy Burnham agreed to give it the go-ahead just before last year’s general election.
Work on the 15,000sq m scheme will involve building a new 124 in-patient ward along with imaging department, landscaping as well as café and retail facilities. The RNOH NHS Trust wants to choose a preferred bidder by the end of next year with construction work due to start in 2013.
