188-room Holiday Inn to be built on site of former Woolworth’s

Boyes Rees Architects has secured planning permission for a 188-room Holiday Inn hotel on the site of a former Woolworth’s in Brixton.

Lambeth councillors gave the go-ahead for the £4.5 million project after voting unanimously in favour of the plans.

Developer Crown Properties is expected to start work on the 4,279sq m scheme later this year.

Clive Webb, business development director at Boyes Rees, said: “With the design of the new hotel we have not only managed to harness the vibrancy of the local area, but in doing so we have also been sympathetic to the style and features of the original Art Deco building.”
