Government rejects film studio’s appeal
Pinewood Studios has axed its plans for a vast Hollywood-style permanent set in the Buckinghamshire countryside.
The announcement came after the government’s Planning Inspectorate rejected its appeal against South Buckinghamshire District Council’s refusal to grant planning permission to the scheme by Burland TM and Arup.
The 40ha development on the Buckinghamshire green belt would have included a Parisian square, New York brownstone flats, parts of New Orleans and San Francisco and a Venetian canal.
The adjoining “creative community” would have provided up to 1,400 homes, a school, theatre, cinema and sports facilities.
