CF Møller wins planning for Peabody scheme

Architect says design adopts scale of surrounding terraces

CF Møller Architects has won planning for a Peabody housing development on a brownfield site in south London.

Construction work could start on the 42 houses and flats at Milkwood Road, near Herne Hill station, before the end of the year.

Philip Twaddell at CF Møller said the scheme would adopt the scale and rhythm of the surrounding terraces, using bay windows and brick and render.

Claire Bennie, development director at Peabody, said: “The new homes at Milkwood Road will add to our significant presence in Herne Hill where Peabody’s Rosendale and Peabody Hill estates already provide over 500 homes.”

At least half of the properties will be for affordable housing with a focus on shared ownership flats. Local first-time buyers and key workers will have the first chance to buy.
