Concept designs to be drawn up for St Giles site in central Oxford
Four teams have been shortlisted in an invited design competition for St Cross College in Oxford.
Niall McLaughlin, Pringle Richards Sharratt, Walters and Cohen and Wilkinson Eyre have all been asked to develop concept designs for the college’s St Giles site in the centre of the city.
The brief calls for a building which “should seem a natural companion and complement to the existing buildings, enhancing them, the garden and the surrounding townscape.
“In whole and in detail this should be a scheme which provides continuing satisfaction and unexpected moments of delight.”
Shortlisted practices were chosen by the St Cross College Building Committee, advised by Malcolm Reading Consultants and the Oxford University Estates Directorate.
A winner will be announced in autumn this year.
