Plan to restore 1927 complex gets funding shot
Capita Symonds is behind plans to restore the only listed lido remaining in Wales.
The £6.2 million scheme at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, near Pontypridd, has been given a £2.3 million funding boost by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The lido was built in 1927 in an arts and craft style and attracted up to 1,000 bathers a day at its height. But the Grade II listed complex fell into disrepair in the 1980s before shutting in 1991.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council said it hopes the lido will attract 30,000 visitors a year when it re-opens.
The new scheme will include a 25m pool, a heated activity pool and a splash pool.

If only people in England realised what a pleasure it is to swim in an open-air swimming pool compared to an indoor pool, they would want more "lidos".
nice sketchup model, really sells the scheme....
