Pavilion in Weihai to promote larger development
Make Architects has completed a seaside pavilion in Weihai, its first building in mainland China.
The structure is used as an exhibition space for a new residential development located on an island of reclaimed land on the northern coast of the Shandong Peninsula.
Simon Lincoln, Make’s project architect, said: “The Weihai Pavilion, is designed so that its users can see the full beauty of the ocean from the comfort of the pavilion.
“The glazed facade allows floods of natural light into the main space while the over-sailing roof provides shade for the building during the hot summer months. These elements ensure a more energy efficient building.”
The pavilion includes a reception area, information hub and will serve as an event space in the future.
