Fewer than half intend to promote initiative to constituents
Fewer than half of MPs will promote the Green Deal in their constituencies when it launches in October, according to a survey.
The Green Deal Dialogue Group, which includes members such as developer Land Securities, surveyed 100 MPs and found only 49 who said they would promote the initiative. The Green Deal encourages the retrofitting of sustainable technology by paying for work out of the savings on energy bills.
Of the MPs surveyed, 21% said that they did not understand the concept behind the initiative.
The group urged the government to ramp up efforts to sell the Green Deal’s benefits to MPs.
