South London architect designs three-bedroom Edwardian-style house
South London architect RDA has starting work on a Passivhaus three-bedroom house in Chiswick.
The project is a new-build three-storey three-bedroom house on a corner site on an Edwardian residential street and is designed to maintain a constant temperature of 20˚C.
RDA has sunk the lower storey below street level with the two main bedrooms opening onto a courtyard garden.
The ground floor contains an open-plan living room and kitchen area and the top floor is intended as a studio or third bedroom. Both floors are finished in brick and white render.
A living wall featuring jasmine plants is planned for the top floor while two skylights provide natural light.
RDA has another three Passivhaus projects with planning permission due to start in south and west London later this year.
