Architect aims to design healthy living into masterplan

Studio Egret West’s designs for a 13.5ha site around Millwall Football Club are to go on display at New London Architecture.

The scheme, which won planning earlier this year, will see 2,500 homes built along the Surrey Canal in south-east London, as well as a publicly accessible sports village.

David West, director of Studio Egret West, said: “Our masterplan for Surrey Canal lays the foundation for a healthy community both in mind and body.

“This mixed-use urban village will be underpinned by a plethora of sporting facilities and a multi-faith centre. The exhibition, entitled In Pursuit of the Healthy City, showcases how wellbeing can be designed into emerging urban environments.”

The free exhibition runs at the Building Centre from June 29 to July 28.
