Deinze project will start on site next year
Tony Fretton Architects has been granted planning permission for a new town hall in Deinze, Belgium.
The 7,500sq m scheme includes five storeys of administrative accommodation as well as offices for the mayor and aldermen. The council chamber is set in a double height room, with the public entrance foyer below.
All facades consist of loggias formed with stone pilasters which will shade the interior in summer and allow sun to enter in winter.
Work on the €13.5 million project will start in early 2013.

balcony
1. a balustraded or railed elevated platform projecting from the wall of a building.
The usual box from one of Britain's most... boring... academic designers.
At the risk of being rude to the Belgians, here's another reason to not bother going there again.
