Former De Montfort head to replace Jeremy Till
David Dernie has been appointed as dean of the architecture and built environment faculty at Westminster University.
The Cambridge-based architect and former head of the De Montfort school of architecture in Leicester replaces current Westminster dean Jeremy Till.
Till is leaving the post to become vice chancellor at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design at the start of the new academic year.
Dernie was previously head of the Manchester University school of architecture for four years and was formerly a reader of architecture at Nottingham University.
He has also lectured at Cambridge University, where he graduated in 1987, and was recipient of the Rome Prize in Architecture in 1991.

Congratulations David!
Over the last 3 years at the Leicester School of Architecture at DMU, you have been an inspiration to the students and myself, it will be sad to see you go, however I believe the students at Westminister will be gaining a truely remarkable tutor and Dean.
WU need a kick up the bump after this year's show. Hopefully this is the man to do it
Nice CV, has he ever had to deliver with bricks and mortar?
The degree course needs a complete overhaul. Scrap the first year syllabus and teach some real stuff.
has anyone got the balls to come up with an architecture course to challenge the current flabby and self satisfied unit system?
He probably won't stay long at Westminster either.
An inspirational design consultant who doesn't do buildings. Bravo Westminster.
