The architect has also designed a car park for the city
Zaha Hadid has been commissioned to design a skyscraper in the downtown area of Miami.
Hadid, who is already working on a car park in the city, will design a building for a site currently occupied by a BP petrol station at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard.
Reports in American media said no further details are available, but it is expected to be a predominantly residential building.
The London-based architect has close ties with the city and owns an apartment in the W Hotel on Miami Beach.
