Zaha Hadid, Wangjing Soho
Commercial development will be built near Foster & Partners’ Beijing Airport
The Wangjing Soho complex near Beijing Airport has been hailed as a bright beacon to welcome visitors to Beijing.
Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the project will consist of two towers up to 200m in height embracing each other at varying angles. The interplay is enhanced by a dynamic external skin which varies in density to create a shimmering effect.
When finished the projects will have more than 521,000sq m of floor area, with three levels of retail, shopping and restaurants connected by three-storey high atrium.
The Wangjing Soho project is expected to be completed in 2014.

"Rising like the hollow mountains predicted by Nostradamus" who wrote this crap?
Hmm, a bit dull. Do we think ZHA have 'jumped the shark' Architecturally? Love or loathe her, they have been an interesting practice over the years, yet this could be by any one of the world's mega-firms.
Phew - when I read the headline I thought "Oh no, Hadid is now going to wreck Soho!
But it turns out to be just another piece of blobby stuff from the utterly predictable Zaha. You always know what she's going to do before you've even seen it.
i like the (8) lanes of road outside the teddy bear ear design
Zaha is rendering her way to a spiffingly surreal centre.
yes in reality that 8 lane road would be completely log-jammed
just looks like a Foster building
the interior is nice
Any building made up of Star Trek logos is cool with me.
But seriously, I particularity like the exterior shimmering effect.
It has got to be a conspiracy. We are ensuring all the nasty architecture gets shipped to China. So much for tolerating cheap Chinese goods. Eat that Beijing!
Her practice flooded the world with such junks, people in BJ are sick of this
