Sam Jacob's desk
BD takes a look at the workspaces of architects
FAT director Sam Jacob says: “My desk is a strange contradiction at the moment. I’m caught between a burglary and the delivery of shiny replacement equipment which means I’m left with an odd array of tools: Pencils, a pad of tracing paper, and old Macbook and an iPad. But actually, there’s something very productive in this combination of cloud computing and hand drawing that highlights the immediacy of both ends of the technological spectrum. I’m beginning to think I might cancel that order for a behemoth desktop computer and settle into this techno-primitive work arrangement for good.”

Wasn't there that joke, everyone with an ipad is a ....
that is never a real desk... where are the piles of drawings and what the heck can you draw with just a blue nobo pen, green highlighter, red crayon, tipex, usb drive - maybe that black biro does all the work! I would hate to be the poor cad monkey how has to deal with transposing the "techno-primitive work" into a real building... I've done it and it is not a good way to work!
I've always found images of Architect's desks remind me of the images most* Architects take of their buildings. Must be that they are both devoid of life.
Real architects have cigarette ash, alcohol and coffee stains on their desks.
